Hydro Disaster

Extension and tools for ArcGIS Desktop, Server "Hydro Disaster" are intended for monitoring water levels at gauging stations, assessment and prediction of flooded areas from rising water levels and the breakthrough of hydraulic structures in the river system

Calculation based on geometric approach, 3D methods, expert and statistical analysis.

Software is implemented in two variants:
  • extension for ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap, ArcScene, ArcGlobe),
  • toolbox for ArcGIS.

Supported version ArcGIS: 9.3, 10.0, 10.1, 10.2

What is planned in the next version?
In the next version we plan to add technique disaster in an accident on slurry tanks, as well as improve the methods of calculation of flood zones using the DEM with a high level of "noise".

Can we calculate the zone when negative water levels, for example, in times of drought?
No

We have our own network of gauging stations with automatic water-level measurements. Can I connect this resource in the module? How much does that cost?
Yes, we can make this work, and to build an additional resource. If you soak standards in the field of information technology, the cost of the work to embed the resource will be no more than 700 dollars.

How important is the accuracy of the DEM?
DEM is very important. Accuracy and reliability of calculation results depends on how detailed and accurate the relief. We recommend the use of the DEM obtained by interpolation method TopoToRaster. At the same time, we continue to research aimed at obtaining "good" results when using DEM with radar images because they are not seldom the only source of information about the relief.

Do you consider the hydrodynamics of flooding?
No, in current version software uses a simple model of building on flood zones and alignments by comparing the inclined surface of the mirror. To account for the hydrodynamics recommend using hydrological professional packages. But by January 2015 we will release own hydrodynamic model
